The senoir snack
Wines paired with local products and dishes
In Piedmont, in the past, the merenda senoira, similar to today’s apericena, was common in peasant life; in particular, it started around five o’clock in the afternoon and lasted until dinnertime-the word sinoira comes from sin-a, which means dinner in Piedmontese. Farmers used to gather in the farmyards of farmsteads to share the end of a harvest, of an activity carried out together-particularly, in our villages for the threshing of wheat-and in the vineyard, with handkerchiefs filled with cheese, salami and the Barbera wine, to break up the long days of work, which ended with the setting of the sun.
With the intention of combining a return to our origins and the sharing of a festive moment, our tastings take a modern take on the merenda senoira.
